Falk Schöning is a member of Hogan Lovells Cadwaladers’ Aerospace and Defense sector Core Team and leads the sector’s European initiatives. He advises clients on all aspects of EU and German antitrust law, foreign investment control, FSR and export control. He focuses his practice on international cases which require coordination between different legal systems or representation vis-à-vis several regulators.

A particular focus of Falk's practice is on the defense industry where he specializes in public procurement law for defense contracts. He is very experienced in negotiations with the Federal Ministry of defense and other German defense agencies. Amongst others, he was nominated by the German Federal Association of the defense Industry (BDSV) as legal expert for the negotiations with the MoD of the modernization of the German defense procurement system. He regularly represents defense contractors in tenders by the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support.

Prior to joining the firm Falk worked as an assistant of the Rapporteur of the European Parliament on the EU defense Procurement Directive 2009/81. Therefore, Falk has inside knowledge of the legal mechanisms regarding the compatibility of offset claims and EU law, security of supply and security of information as well as sub-contracting rules. Falk also works at the intersection of EU defense procurement rules, EDA and NATO / OCCAR procedures.”
