Norman Petty is General Counsel and EVP, Business Affairs, at Noom, the leading behavior change company, empowering everyone, everywhere to live better longer – every day. Noom pairs sustainable behavior change with prescription-grade catalysts to make lasting change feel easy. At Noom, Norman oversees the Legal, HR, Compliance and Government Affairs function and acts as corporate secretary.

Norman brings extensive leadership experience as a legal executive and strategist. Before Noom, he was General Counsel at The Meet Group—a leading social discovery and live-streaming video company—owned by ProSiebenSat.1, a large German media company. In that role, he oversaw the entire legal function, acted as corporate secretary, led a 500+-member Trust & Safety team, and served on the board of the London-based Online Dating Association.

Prior to The Meet Group, Norman served as Senior Vice President, Legal at Dow Jones & Company, acting as division counsel for its consumer business—which included The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s. During his tenure there, he helped negotiate the Journal’s strategic partnerships with Apple, Google, and Facebook, and acted as legal advisor for News Corp’s digital sports subsidiary in Singapore from inception through its sale.

He began his career as an associate at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP and Reed Smith LLP, where he developed expertise across corporate transactions, intellectual property, and licensing.

Norman holds a J.D. from Duke University School of Law and a B.A. in Chemistry with a minor in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
