Darren Munoz brings more than 40 years of hospitality experience and a distinguished career with Marriott International. Effective May 2026, he assumed the role of General Manager of The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, one of the region's most significant convention and meeting facilities and a key driver of visitor activity in The Woodlands.

Darren began his hospitality career in 1984 as a doorman at Marriott Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa and steadily advanced through operations, food and beverage, events, sales, and executive leadership positions at some of Marriott's most recognized properties. His career includes leadership roles at the New York Marriott Marquis, JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, Anaheim Marriott, Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, and San Diego Marriott La Jolla.

Throughout his tenure, Darren has successfully managed hotel openings, brand transitions, food and beverage repositioning initiatives, convention and catering operations, and large-scale hospitality teams. As General Manager of the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Conference Center, he led the property through significant operational challenges while fostering a culture of service and resilience that earned the hotel Marriott's "Hotel Hero" Award for extraordinary courage and contributions to the community.

Most recently, as General Manager of the Houston Marriott Medical Center/Museum District, Darren strengthened performance across key business metrics, elevated guest satisfaction scores, and built a highly engaged workforce while serving a unique and complex customer base. His extensive experience in convention, meetings, and destination-driven hospitality provides valuable perspective that will contribute significantly to the Board's strategic direction.
