Elizabeth Chiweshenga is a Senior Sustainable Investment Manager within abrdn Investments’ Sustainable Investment Team. She is responsible for engaging with the regulatory landscape for sustainable finance and leading the firm’s response to practical implementation. She also supports the implementation and oversight of sustainable investing strategies, focusing on articulating and upholding strong standards that meet clients’ and regulators’ expectations.
Elizabeth joined the company in 2013 after working in research and communications roles across a range of sectors, including legal services and utilities. In previous roles with abrdn, Elizabeth developed the firm’s investment approach to social issues by undertaking thematic and sector research, engaging with companies and collaborating with peers and industry associations. She also played a key role in designing and supporting abrdn’s approach to impact investing, led the design of the firm’s proprietary approach to ESG scoring, and managed screening processes.
Her academic qualifications include an MSc from the University of Edinburgh, the CFA’s Investment Management Certificate (IMC), and passing the level 1 exam of the CFA Program. She also recently completed a Master of Laws (LLM) with a focus on human rights, passing with merit.
