Joanna Conway leads Deloitte’s multi-disciplinary Internet Regulation (Legal) offering; an offering which won an FT Innovative Lawyers Award in 2022. Joey is a specialist in digital risks, including intellectual property law, defamation, privacy, reputation management, advertising and other content risk. She advises media and entertainment, social media, e-commerce and digital platform companies. An experienced disputes lawyer, she frequently advises on risk mitigation and represents clients in disputes from arbitration to litigation. She has represented clients in adverse media events, defamation litigation, trademark and copyright claims and licensing disputes. She advises on internet law and regulation and cutting-edge issues such as fake news, political advertising, UGC, and intermediary liability, and innovations such as influencer marketing, AI and deep fakes. She authors the Media and Entertainment Law Review and sits on the Law Society of England and Wales Intellectual Property Committee. She is a champion of diversity and inclusion and has a key leadership role at the UK’s pan-IP professional organisation, IP Inclusive.
