Sue is a partner in the Tech Transactions team in London. She has over 26 years' experience advising on complex business-critical technology transactions and digital projects and the legal issues relating to the development and deployment of technology. As a specialist in tech transactions, her practice focuses on complex cloud, outsourcing (IT and BPO) and digital transformation deals, as well as strategic technology systems implementation, development and licensing arrangements. She acts for both customers and suppliers, which informs her practical business-focused approach to deals.
Her practice involves advising clients on the key legal and regulatory issues arising from the development and deployment of emerging technologies including AI, blockchain and digital assets, with particular experience advising clients on the implementation of responsible AI governance programmes and AI contracting.
Sue has deep experience in the financial services sector, having advised a range of financial institutions, FinTechs and technology suppliers to the financial service sector over her career and spent time on secondment with Goldman Sachs, Lloyds Banking Group and Quilter. Prior to joining Bird & Bird, she co-led her previous firm's financial institutions group in EMEA and co-chaired the FinTech practice in London. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Digital Banking and was recently included in the Innovate Finance Women in Fintech Powerlist Hall of Fame.
Sue is ranked in Chambers for Information Technology & Outsourcing, Commercial Contracts and FinTech Legal, in Legal500 for IT & Telecoms, Fintech: corporate and commercial, TMT, Commercial Contracts and AI and in Lexology Index for IT, FinTech and Blockchain.
