Mathias founded 1L Capital AG and runs all operational aspects of selecting, onboarding and risk controlling managers. 1L Capital AG invests in managers at all stages, focusing on liquid assets and alpha strategies. Having started in 1997 in risk management for equity derivatives at Societe Generale, he then moved to equity derivatives trading for Calyon in Zurich, London, Paris and Hong Kong from 1999 to 2007 in various roles: market making single stock options, dispersion trading, exotic derivatives, prop trading, large corporate derivative offers… He was then hired to build and run the equity derivatives trading desk for Asia ex-Japan for Dresdner Bank from 2007 to 2009. He then co-founded and ran as co-CIO a systematic quantitative hedge fund “Noho Capital” from 2009 to 2015, focusing on short term signals on Asian equity markets. From 2016 to 2021, Mathias worked at Ayaltis AG as deputy CIO, member of the investment committee, sourcing managers across all strategies and all asset classes.

Mathias graduated in Master in Money, Banking and Finance from the university of Birmingham, UK (1997), and from the DEA Economie et Finance Internationales from the universite d’Orleans in France (1997). He speaks fluently French, German and English.
