Ana Higueras is an Executive Director and head of US GTB Advisory ESG within CIB. Her mission is to lead GTB’s clients towards a more sustainable path through transactional banking deals. Ana works closely with the Bankers and GTB Sales team to anticipate our clients’ needs and structure customized transactions with a focus in sustainable practices. Her work supports clients to bridge the gap between their sustainability strategy and treasury needs. She is passionate about developing creative solutions to enable clients to take the next step (or first step) in their sustainability journey.

She has over 18 years’ experience in finance. Prior to joining BBVA, she led the North America (exc. Mexico) and Brazil Corporate Sales team at Moody’s ESG, overseeing several initiatives and products. Her role included sales strategy definition & implementation, team management and strategic client portfolio coverage. Second Party Opinions, Climate Solutions and ESG ratings were some of the products she oversaw. Before Moody’s, she was in Deutsche Bank for 15 years in different capacities (Compliance, Legal, Trust and Agency Services and Trade Finance). In the Trade Finance Group, Ana was the ESG product expert for Trade Finance Americas, besides covering Brazil, Chile and Central America, from a cross border perspective, and US Traders. She was also a member of the Americas Corporate Bank Women Network Group.

Ana has joined BBVA in July 2022. She is involved in multiple projects, such as an ESG industry alignment for GTB, supply chain materiality matrix definition and the Oxford Sustainability Leadership program. Ana has also been appointed to lead the professional development of WIL and is involved in Diversity and Sustainability matters for the US branch.
