Richard is the Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Akebia Therapeutics, a position he has held for nearly three years. Prior to joining Akebia, he served as Chief Financial Officer of a Cambridge-based biotechnology company and has held the role of Corporate Controller at four organizations throughout his career. Notably, he led the S-1 filing for the NASDAQ IPO of Oxford Immunotec, a UK-based company, in 2013. He also played a critical role during its subsequent acquisition by PerkinElmer in 2021. Richard has also run Internal Audit at three public companies, including Teradyne, Inc.

Richard began his financial career at Coopers & Lybrand in Boston in 1991 and is a United States Navy Supply Corps and Submarine veteran. He is a C.P.A. and received an M.S. in Management from MIT and a B.A. in economics from Trinity College, Hartford, CT.
