Profile

Dr. Soner Canko graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University, where he also earned his Master’s and PhD degrees.

He began his career in multinational corporations, holding various roles at Procter & Gamble, Citibank, Hewlett-Packard (HP), and First Data.

Between 2011 and 2020, Dr. Canko served as the CEO of BKM (Interbank Card Center of Türkiye). During his tenure, he led the launch of BKM Express, Türkiye’s mobile digital wallet, and TROY, Türkiye’s domestic card scheme, contributing significantly to the country’s transition toward a cashless society.

Recognized for his work in financial technologies, Dr. Canko currently serves as a management consultant and independent board member. He is also actively involved in the following platforms:

  • FinTech Istanbul
  • Blockchain Türkiye
  • Turkish Enterprise Institutions
