The day will start with morning networking followed by a keynote presentation, a panel session, roundtable discussions, Q&A, a light lunch and additional networking time.

Topic focus: Back office - core banking

The event will explore and assess the key components of a financial institution’s tech stack, with candid input from practitioners and analysts. In our first session, we will take a deep dive into core banking, covering topics such as:

  • What are the options available for established institutions when it comes to core modernisation and how can gradual renovation of the core can be achieved? What functionality should core banking systems have and how much of that functionality should be done by auxiliary systems?
  • Is composability and flexibility key for modern core solutions? Is it possible for vendors to offer everything in one solution or will banks of the future choose to select components from different vendors to form their cores, chopping and changing to make upgrades quickly? How far are we towards this vision of composable banking?
  • Older core banking systems vs challengers – what are the advantages and pitfalls? Does it pay to be an early adopter of a new solution?

Topic focus: Banking-as-a-service and embedded finance

In our second session of the morning, we’ll take an in-depth look at BaaS and embedded finance, with topics including:

  • Understanding the value of BaaS and its application in practice and how financial services firms can tap into its potential.
  • Choosing the right provider: exploring the pitfalls and the success stories.
  • Banks as the providers of BaaS services and solutions – who is doing what and what are the success rates?
  • Banks as the recipients of BaaS services and solutions – what works in practice and what are the results? Importantly, where and who with do the responsibilities lie in such partnerships?
  • The role of core banking vendors in the BaaS space – how are banks working with core vendors to offer BaaS services?
