Mark Simons is Head of Gas Origination at TotalEnergies Gas & Power, based in Geneva, where he leads a team focused on delivering structured gas transactions across Europe. With over 30 years of experience in energy trading and origination, Mark’s career also includes management positions at BP, BG Group, and Maersk Oil and roles in the UK, Denmark, Norway and now Switzerland. Mark began his career in refinery trading with BP, before switching first to UK power and then European gas as markets began to liberalise. He is widely recognised for his deep expertise, extensive network and track record of origination deals in European gas, power and more recently LNG. Since 2022 Mark has served as an elected board member of Energy Traders Europe (formerly EFET) and since 2024 as the chair of its Oversight Committee. Mark is British and has a degree in Economics and Politics from Exeter University.
