Ana Maria Belacurencu (Popa) is working within the Romanian Competition Council since 2017. Starting with 2021, Mrs. Belacurencu charged with the responsibility of drafting Romania’s foreign direct investment screening legislation. Post the successful enactment of Romania’s FDI screening legislation Mrs. Belacurencu assumed the position of policy and legal case advisor to the President of the Romanian Competition Council. In this capacity she is directly responsible for conduct of national security reviews of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in Romania. Mrs. Belacurencu also serves as Romania’s focal to EU Member States and the European Commission on examination of foreign investments. Beyond Mrs. Belacurencu FDI responsibilities she also leads several international efforts to advance Romania economic policies to include a multi-lateral cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Mrs. Belacurencu holds a law degree from Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest.
