In April 2023, Jamieson Mckay was appointed Director General, Foreign Investment Review and Economic Security (FIRES) at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), where he is responsible for the review of foreign investment for national security injury and net economic benefit to Canada, as well as leadership of Canada’s economic security agenda.
Mr. McKay’s other executive appointments included Senior Director, Canadian Coast Guard Fleet Renewal at Public Services and Procurement Canada (September 2021-April 2023), where he led the procurement of three classes of vessels in the National Shipbuilding Strategy portfolio; and Director, Government Operations Sector at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (August 2019-August 2021) where he was responsible for assessing strategic risk on defence procurement projects and other significant government contracts. His 24 years of public sector experience also includes positions at Transport Canada, the Department of National Defence, and the Canada Revenue Agency. Career highlights include deployments to Op ATHENA (Afghanistan), Op ADJACENT (United Arab Emirates), and Op HESTIA (Haiti). He has been awarded the Commander CANOSCOM Commendation as well as the Commander CEFCOM Commendation, the General Service Medal-SWA (1 bar) and the Operational Service Medal-HUM.
Mr. Mckay holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Ottawa and is a graduate of the Canadian Forces College’s National Security Programme. He was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada and is the father to one daughter.
