Sh. Joyanta Chakraborty is an IRSEE Electrical Engineer of 2005 batch and anex-IPS Officer 2011 of batch of Odisha Cadre. He has done Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Sh. Chakraborty joined Indian Railway Service in the year 2006 as an Assistant Divisional Electrical Engineer and thereafter he served Indian Railways in various capacities in Southern Railway, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), Metro Railway Kolkata and Railway Board.

Presently Sh. Chakraborty is Director in Ministry of Civil Aviation looking after the Airports of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Greenfield Airport development in the country besides looking after PPP transaction of AAI Airports Asset Monetization, National Infrastructure Pipeline Projects and coordination with State Government and other Projects proponent for development of Brownfield and Greenfield Airports.

During his stint with Indian Railways, Sh. Chakraborty was undergoing in different responsibilities ranging from production and design of locomotives, maintenance of Rolling Stock, Construction and Project Management of Power Supply and General Services Assets and Design of Metro Rolling Stock Depot layout and managing PPP projects of Indian Railways where he was looking after the largest PPP projects of manufacturing of High powered locomotives in the state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in a first of its kind.

Sh. Chakraborty was also instrumental in ensuring the Railway Board's Sanction for Provision of End of Train Telemetry Project in all freight trains in Indian Railways. He has undergone training in Metro technology at CRRC Dalian, China and Three Phase State-of-the-Art Highest Horse Power Electric Locomotive Propulsion Technology at Alstom, Paris.

He was part of the first delegation under U.S.- India Aviation Cooperation Agreement organized by U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to visit Washington in United States of America where different aspects of Aviation Cooperation between India and U.S.A. and the opportunities therein were discussed. Besides, Sh. Chakraborty has also attended IATA training course on Aviation Policy and Regulation where different regulatory frameworks and models of Aviation Policy around the world were learnt during his stay in London, United Kingdom.

He is also one of the Directors on the Board of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited ("GMR HIAL") Chandigarh International Airport Limited ("CHIAL") and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).
