John Hutchinson is Co-Chief Executive Officer and Global Head of Origination of Trez Capital. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s commercial real estate financing business, both debt and equity, across North America. In his former role, John led the Central & Southwestern U.S region. Under his leadership, Trez Capital’s Dallas team has financed more than $5 billion in real estate projects in the U.S. since 2012.

Prior to joining Trez Capital, John spent nearly 20 years in the home building business. For the majority of that time, he served as President of the Dallas Division of The Ryland Group, Inc., a large developer, builder and marketer of residential housing in the United States. While at Ryland, John oversaw the construction of more than 11,000 homes and the development of more than 5,000 residential lots.

Before entering the home building business, John was engaged in the full-time practice of law in the Hughes & Luce, LLP law firm in Dallas, which subsequently merged into the national law firm of K&L Gates, LLP. Currently, John sits on the Board of Directors for Southern-based custom home builder, Partners in Building.
