Michael Brooks is a lawyer and is the CEO of the Real Property Association of Canada (“REALPAC”), a national trade association of Canada’s largest institutional, public and private real estate investment and development companies. He joined REALPAC in 1997. At REALPAC, Michael has led the Canadian commercial real estate industry in all government relations matters, such as on market and regulatory transformation in Canada, on housing and planning policy, on cross-border and domestic tax issues, on sustainability, decarbonization, ESG and UNSDG's, nationally with all three levels of government, and with various groups internationally.

He is a former Board member of the Toronto Foundation (2013 - 2023 ), GRESB BV (2018-2020), Canada Green Building Council, and is a current member of the World Green Building Council (2021-2023, 2024 - ) and the Canadian federal government’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council (2018- ). Michael is former partner and lawyer (1990-2020) and real estate practice group leader (2012-2014) at Aird & Berlis LLP, a large Toronto law firm.

Michael is a former Associate Professor, Adjunct Professor and Executive in Residence at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University ("TMU", formerly Ryerson University), Toronto, Canada, and has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Schulich School of Business, York University and TMU.
