Quantum computing, AI & ML fairness, IBOR reform

The challenges of 2020 will continue in 2021, and the clock is ticking closer and closer to the IBOR reform. We spoke to Suman Datta, Head of portfolio, Quantitative research, Lloyds Bank, to get a grip on how banks are changing their processes to adjust, and we also asked quants about their preparedness for a post-IBOR world. Although a small number of quants don't feel confident in their preparedness, 2021 will undoubtedly be a year of answers to questions the industry wasn't able to answer before.

With businesses considering AI implementation more and more, last year AI explainability was the hot topic. However, as ESG becomes more important for firms, ethical AI might come into the spotlight this year. In this eMagazine, Svetlana Borovkova, Associate Professor Of Quantitative Finance, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, writes about the various ways modellers can ensure fairness.

Meanwhile, we also hear from Alexei Kondratyev, Managing Director and Global Head of Data Analytics, Standard Chartered Bank, about the quantum computing developments in Standard Chartered. We hope you enjoy.
