Andrew McCarthy is the Founder of Freshwater Development and oversees acquisition, finance, design, construction, and asset management for all projects within the company.
Throughout his career, Andrew has overseen nearly $4 billion of development on high profile projects such as 111 West 57th Street, 432 Park Avenue and 1 Boerum Place. He has 15 years of experience in New York City development and construction, across more than 500 luxury residential units.
Prior to founding Freshwater, Andrew served as Executive Vice President at SDX Real Estate, spearheading their national development portfolio in New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, and Palm Beach. Previously, Andrew was Vice President at Avery Hall Investments where he oversaw several large scale residential New York City projects, including 1 Boerum Place. Prior to that, Andrew was a Project Manager at JDS Development managing 111 West 57th Street and previously a Project Architect at Rafael Vinoly on 432 Park Avenue.
Andrew holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University, and both a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan. Andrew has served as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University and was recently selected by Crain’s as Notable in NYC Real Estate.
Andrew lives in Traverse City, MI and Brooklyn, NY with his wife Kelley and son Matthew. Andrew enjoys high altitude climbing, previous climbs include Denali, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, and Rainier among others.
