Marisa Calderon is the President & CEO of Prosperity Now, a national organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., dedicated to inspiring bold action and equipping organizations with the tools, research, and resources needed to help people build prosperity so everyone can thrive.
Before joining Prosperity Now, she served as the Chief of Community Finance and Mobility at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) as well as the Executive Director of the NCRC Community Development Fund, Inc., a U.S. Treasury-certified community development financial institution (CDFI). In these roles, she led initiatives to expand economic mobility, increase access to affordable homeownership, and support small businesses. Calderon's leadership is driven by her vision of fostering innovation that creates jobs, grows businesses, and builds strong communities.
In 2025, Marisa was selected by Profiles in Diversity Journal as a Latino & Hispanic Leadership Award Winner, she was also named in the 2025 publication by Chief as a winner of its New Era of Leadership Awards. In 2023, she was recognized by Women We Admire as one of the Top 50 Women in Finance. New Jersey Community Action named Calderon a Distinguished Honoree in 2023 for exemplary work in housing and community development projects which foster economic mobility and work toward bridging the racial wealth gap in communities ignored by traditional financial institutions.
Calderon is ranked on the Swanepoel Power 200 as one of the most powerful leaders in the residential real estate industry and was named a HousingWire Woman of Influence in 2018, 2021, and 2024 for her work in increasing real estate and mortgage professionals’ understanding and appreciation of the Hispanic home-buying market as well as her efforts in designing innovative scalable solutions to address homeownership and equity building barriers experienced by communities of color. In 2021, she was also named one of Diversity Journal’s Women Worth Watching in Leadership and is featured in the 2021 volume of Hispanic Stars Rising: The New Face of Power. Frequently sought out as an issue-area expert on affordable housing, banking, and immigration, Marisa has been interviewed by numerous publications and media outlets including NPR’s Marketplace, In House Warrior leadership podcast and Negocios Magazine, and has regularly spoken at events for the Mortgage Bankers Association, Consumer Federation of America, FDIC, and the National Fair Housing Alliance, among others.
Prior to joining NCRC, Marisa served as executive director of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), one of the largest minority and real estate trade associations in the nation. During her decade at the helm of NAHREP, she authored the annual State of Hispanic Homeownership Report and played an instrumental role as executive producer of L’ATTITUDE, an annual broadcast and event attended by thousands that engages entrepreneurs, business leaders, professional athletes, politicians, and other industry influencers.
Marisa currently serves on the boards of Working Solutions and Partners for the Common Good. She lives in San Diego with her husband and two children.
