Profile

Mr. González is a business strategist with a track record in global trade, supply chain optimization, and foreign direct investment (FDI). With over 25 years of experience spanning Mexico, the U.S., and Europe, he has guided companies in automotive, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing through market entry, sourcing, and operational expansion strategies.

As CEO and Founder of 258 Consulting, Mr. González leads a firm specializing in cross-border operations, manufacturing partnerships, and supplier diversification. Over the past five years as a private consultant, he has represented the business development efforts and foreign direct investments for the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Jalisco. Additionally, he has advised nearly 200 companies across diverse industries—ranging from semiconductors, where he helped a company secure a specialized oven manufacturer, to carbon fiber pickleball rackets, automation equipment, plastic injection molding, medical devices, office furniture, pet toys, and automotive aftermarket products. His expertise has enabled, from startups to century-old corporations with billions in sales, to strengthen their supply chains and successfully conduct nearshore operations.

Between 2009–2019, Mr. González held multiple roles with ProMexico, Mexico’s former trade and investment promotion agency. As Mexico’s Trade Commissioner for Arizona and Nevada (2015–2019), he led initiatives that resulted in $25M in foreign direct investment, assisted 39 companies in expanding their exports, and played a key role in deepening economic ties between Mexico and the U.S.. Prior to this, as State Director for ProMexico in Baja California, he helped exporters and international investors establish manufacturing operations in the region. One of his most notable achievements was launching an aerospace design training center, with funding from the European Union, strengthening Baja California’s position as a hub for highly skilled aerospace design engineers.

Before his tenure at ProMexico, Mr. González spent 14 years (1995–2008) with Bancomext, Mexico’s Development Bank. From 1999 to 2005, he worked in the Netherlands for the bank, leading $15M in export projects and managing $40M in foreign investment initiatives across Europe, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Scandinavia, Poland, and the Baltics.

Mr. González began his professional career after earning his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, working as Controller for the Baja California Credit Union (1992–1994). Soon after, he was recruited by Bancomext in 1995 to become a Credit Risk Manager. However, he quickly realized his calling was in business development and FDI promotion. He successfully transitioned into this role when he joined the Trade Commission of Mexico in the Netherlands, managed by Bancomext, in 1999. As a Credit Risk Manager, he contributed to the successful lending of over $15M to exporters in agriculture, aquaculture, manufacturing, and fishing industries in Baja California.

Beyond his professional success, Mr. González is recognized for his collaborative leadership, relationship-building, and ability to solve complex business challenges. He is more than an advisor—he is a mentor, connector, and advocate for sustainable growth.
