Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Mike was general counsel, chief compliance officer and secretary to several mortgage lenders and servicers, both privately- and publicly-owned. Clients leverage Mike’s 25-plus years of experience at national mortgage firms, government-sponsored enterprises and private law firms. His clients include Achieve Home Loans, Ally Bank, Flagstar Bank, Pretium Partners and numerous insurance companies.

- Technology and other outsourcing transactions for mortgage origination and servicing

From his position as general counsel and as a partner in private practice, he has led critical initiatives for growing financial services companies, including:
- Launching HELOC warehouse facilities and a securitization platform
- Structuring mortgage origination out-sourcing agreements
- Negotiating $3+ billion in M&A transactions (including the issuance of debt and equity to fund the acquisitions)
- Leading the successful IPO of a first-of-its-kind mortgage servicing finance company
- Directing the legal, compliance, risk, internal audit, and licensing departments for mortgage banks
- Leading the responses to some of the earliest CFPB examinations of mortgage servicers and originators
- Structuring first-of-their kind delinked credit card securitizations
