Profile
Bruce Jacobs has a simple belief: the homes you build should come with the lowest electric bill in Houston and offer battery backup.
Terra Energy is North America's original subscription solar power company, since 2016. Terra Energy started in Mexico, operates statewide in Florida for two years, now expanding across Houston, eventually Texas, California and the Sunbelt.
The model is straightforward: Subscribe, pay a flat monthly subscription fee, Terra Energy provides solar power, you pay less for electricity. Best part, the builder pays nothing. The homeowner pays nothing upfront and nothing to own it. They just get the lowest power bill in their zip code — and battery backup resiliency when the grid goes down.
For ground-up developers, that's a competitive edge baked into the product before the first buyer walks through the door. No added cost. No added liability. Just a community that comes with something the one down the street doesn't.
With federal solar tax credits to help buy solar gone, most solar models no longer pencil. Terra Energy was built differently — it never needed them. That's not a pivot. That's the design.
Bruce spent 25 years as a Florida trial and appellate lawyer before joining Terra Energy in March 2024. He brought the same instincts: find leverage, eliminate exposure, structure the deal so the upside compounds. He's now the Director of Business Development and works out of Terra Energy's national headquarters in Wynwood, Florida. Bruce lives in Coconut Grove with his wife Michelle and their four kids.
