Dr. David C. Brown is an Associate Professor of Finance and the Brian and Clara Franke Chair in Finance in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. His research spans from capital raising through IPOs and crowdfunding to modeling the investment industry and analyzing products such as exchange-traded funds and target date funds. David's research has been published in the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Finance, and the Critical Finance Review and was recognized with the 2018 TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security. His research has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Forbes, Consumer Reports, Money Digest and ValueWalk. He is the founder of the Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge (MECC), founder and president of the Foundation for Spreadsheet Education, and a Microsoft Excel MVP. David teaches financial modeling at the graduate and undergraduate levels, was a finalist in the 2016 ModelOff Financial Modeling World Championships, has been featured multiple times in Excel Esports on ESPN, and coaches the University of Arizona ConCats, the 2023 MECC World Champions.
