Derrick Barker is the CEO and Co-Founder of Nectar, which provides flexible capital to commercial real estate sponsors. He started buying real estate as a senior at Harvard, built a 500-unit portfolio while trading bonds at Goldman Sachs, then spent a decade acquiring and renovating more than 4,500 affordable housing units across the Southeast while completing over $400m in transactions in the process. He founded Nectar in 2021 so sponsors could unlock trapped liquidity without refinancing their senior debt or giving up equity. Nectar serves sponsors in 30 states with 7-day closings.
