Profile
Bruce Fraser, Managing Partner at Elkhorn Capital Partners, is a former hedge fund manager who, after trading to all-time highs during the 2008-2009 financial crisis, directed his attention to building a portfolio of hard assets based upon his outlook regarding the USD and anticipated future inflation. Bruce has been a full-time entrepreneur and investor fiduciary since 2000. He is a disciplined quantitative investor that successfully utilizes macro-economic indicators as the basis for the proven top-down investment approach, overseeing the management of over $1/2B in investor assets. He has completed over one hundred real estate transactions for partners.
After having been heavily invested in real estate until late 2007, he liquidated all of his partnership's real estate holdings based upon his economic analysis – completely avoiding the 2008-2009 housing crisis. He began re-entering the real estate investment market in 2010. Elkhorn’s portfolio was entirely on fixed-rate debt prior to the historically rapid rate hikes of 2022-2023.
Over the years, Elkhorn has developed a specialty in distressed situation acquisitions – management driven, assets requiring new strategic capital to catalyze a positive change in the property, and currently on distress caused by capital structure (floating rate debt) or partnership distress. Under his guidance, Elkhorn specializes in improving properties to not only yield substantial returns but also enhance the living conditions of working-class communities, demonstrating his commitment to creating value through both financial success and positive social impact.
Bruce holds a BS in Economics with Financial Applications and a MBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University.
