Ting Lu joined Nomura in May 2018 as Chief China Economist and managing director. In 2015-18 he served as the Chief Economist and Head of Research, Institutional Sales and Trading at Huatai Securities. Previously he worked at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch as Managing Director and Head of Greater China Economics. As an economist Dr. Lu has been top ranked in many surveys, including No.1 in All-Asia Institutional Investor Surveys in 2013, 2014 and 2015. While in Huatai Securities he built the research, equity sales and trading teams in Hong Kong, and rebuilt Huatai’s research and sales teams in Mainland China. In the 2017 All-China Institutional Investors Survey, Huatai’s research and sales teams were ranked 4th and 5th respectively, the highest ranking ever achieved by a Chinese securities house. Dr. Lu holds BA and MA in Economics from Peking University, and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He’s a CFA Charter holder.
