Greg Piefer

Dr. Piefer is the founder and chief executive officer of SHINE Medical Technologies. He has more than 13 years of executive management experience at growth-stage technology companies. Before founding SHINE, Greg founded and served as the president of Phoenix Nuclear Labs (now Phoenix), where he managed the development of high-output particle sources. He also served as the chief technical officer at Gillware Inc., a leading data recovery and backup company. Greg holds a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, and B.S. degrees in physics, and electrical and computer engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Greg has received numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious UW-Madison Early Career Award, and the UW-Madison Department of Physics’ Distinguished Alumni Award. He is the primary inventor on multiple patents, and the author or co-author of numerous publications. In addition, he serves on the boards of several profit and non-profit organizations. His passion is the growth of technology companies that move scientific advances to commercialization, providing the opportunity to serve and better humanity.
