Beth Kelley is the Chief Legal Officer for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). She previously served as an Associate Chief Counsel at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and as Senior Counsel in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) National Complex Litigation and Investigations Division.
Before joining HHS, Ms. Kelley spent eight years at the U.S. Department of Justice, including as an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington, D.C., where she prosecuted violent crimes. She began her legal career as a white-collar litigation associate at Sidley Austin LLP.
Ms. Kelley earned her bachelor’s degree from Davidson College and her J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Georgetown University Law Center.
