Lindus Health raises $55m to advance AI tech, expand team
London -based CRO Lindus Health will use the proceeds of a $55 million fundraising round to “further develop” its AI-driven, electronic clinical trial platform and hire additional staff.
Lindus completed the Series B round last week with new investor Balderton Capital, a London-based venture capital (VC) firm, joining existing VC backers like Creandum, Firstminute, and Seedcamp.
In addition to developing its artificial intelligence (AI) platform, the contract research organization (CRO) plans to use the money to “hire in key areas, including clinical operations and product development.”
In a press statement, Balderton partner Suranga Chandratillake said “We’re thrilled to partner with Lindus Health in their mission to improve the clinical research ecosystem.
“In an industry marked by slow growth and fragmentation, their vision for how clinical trials should operate and unwavering commitment to help improve patient outcomes puts them on a completely different playing field than other companies in this space,” he added.
Lindus was launched in 2021. In the years since, it has set up dedicated “all-in-one” CROs in areas such as women’s health, infectious disease, and cardiovascular disease drug trials.
It has also partnered with US startup Aktiia to evaluate an optical blood pressure monitoring device in hypertensive individuals and Tasso, a provider of patient-centric blood collection solutions, in June 2024.
Lindus sells itself based on the idea its artificial intelligence (AI) technology – which is intended to aid study design, automate central monitoring of study data and enable instant biostatistics – can accelerate the clinical trial process.
It has also developed a machine learning-based clinical trial protocol generation tool that uses historical data to create an initial design.
Lindus joins other startups in Balderton’s “digital health” portfolio, including orthodontics firm, 32Co, and online doctor service Avi Medical.
The CROs previous funding round, which was completed in 2023, saw it raise $18 million.
