Profile

Ras Viswanadha is a Principal Research Scientist and a certified Biocompatibility Subject Matter Expert at Zimmer Biomet. She leads key projects aimed to assess the impact of changes in materials, processes, and manufacturing location on biocompatibility of orthopedic medical devices in the joint reconstruction portfolio. Currently, She is focused on conducting biological safety risk evaluations for new products, existing products, and change control measures for various medical devices at Zimmer Biomet. Ras represents Zimmer Biomet on the ASTM subcommittee on Biocompatibility and Biologics. She also holds the NAMSA ISO 10993 certification for biocompatibility evaluation and risk assessment of medical devices.

Prior to joining Zimmer Biomet, Ras earned a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from McMaster University (Hamilton, Canada) and a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Emory University (Atlanta, GA). Her doctoral work focused on molecular mechanisms that govern assembly and intracellular transport of protein complexes. During her post-doctoral fellowship, She explored the genetic basis of various neurological diseases and progressed to develop technologies targeting the peripheral nervous system for chronic pain and inflammatory diseases at Avanos (formerly Halyard, a spin-off of Kimberly Clark).
