Shlomo Chopp is the Managing Partner of CASE, with over 20 years of experience advising the restructuring and investing in commercial real estate across complex and distressed situations. His work focuses on capital structure optimization, asset repositioning, and driving recoveries in dislocated or transitional markets.

The son of a computer programmer, Shlomo began his career in 2003 at the intersection of technology and real estate, selling PropTech software to real estate finance brokerages. He has since invested in, structured, or advised on nearly $5 billion of commercial real estate across asset classes and across the capital stack.

In 2010, he founded CASE to operate at the center of distressed real estate, advising borrowers and guarantors while directly engaging with lenders, special servicers, and counterparties in high-stakes situations. With deep expertise in structured finance and CMBS, his approach is grounded in rigorous underwriting, direct negotiation, and decisive execution. He is known for engaging early in complex situations where clear-eyed assessment and structured strategy can materially shift outcomes, often in scenarios where traditional advisors are reactive or misaligned.

In parallel, Shlomo invests alongside a family office with over 35 years of experience owning and operating commercial real estate, representing approximately 70 properties across the United States. His investment strategy targets dislocation-driven opportunities across the capital stack, including debt, equity, and derivative interests, with a focus on situations where complexity creates a pricing or control advantage.

Shlomo also holds four patents related to commercial real estate, spanning shopping centers, e-commerce, and fulfillment systems. He is the creator of retailOS™, a platform designed to improve shopping center performance and retail operating economics. He has been recognized by RETHINK Retail as a “Top Retail Expert” for five consecutive years.
