Maarten Staal has over 18 years’ experience at BASF ranging from research in performance materials to application technology in the agriculture sector. After earning his MSc in chemical engineering and PhD in polymer chemistry, he started his career at BASF in the central R&D department and later moved to the US where he worked as formulation chemist for BASF’s agricultural solutions division. In 2015, Maarten joined BASF’s N-Management team in Germany, where he was tasked with setting up an application lab for testing of UI and NI products. Currently, he is heading the N-Management technical sales team and is project leader for the development and commercialization of BASF’s new nitrification inhibitor Ampliqan^®.
