Speaker

Profile

Prof. Michael Tanchum is the CEO and Director of Research at NEXUS FORESIGHT, LTD, which provides analysis and services to agribusiness firms. A thought-leader on connectivity, Prof. Tanchum is an expert on the geopolitics of the emerging nexus of energy, strategic resources, and value chains that link Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. With a special emphasis on the food-water-energy nexus and agri-food production, Prof. Tanchum has become an authoritative voice on the global food crisis and climate-smart sustainable solutions. Because of his accurate and actionable predictive insights, he continues to influence the European Union’s Global Gateway policy and the commercial connectivity strategies of European member states toward Africa, the Middle East, and Asia -- as well as the policies of the United States. His articles regularly appear in New Ag International as well as policy journals and news media of the regions.

Prof. Tanchum is a fellow at Economics and Energy Initiative at the Middle East Institute in Washington, D.C. and at the NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies at the business school of the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He teaches at Universidad de Navarra and is a senior fellow at the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES). Prof. Tanchum holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and was a Fellow at Harvard's Olin Institute for Strategic Studies and its Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
