Profile

Anisha Dasgupta has served as the FTC’s General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer since April of 2022. Her portfolio includes counseling the FTC’s senior leadership and overseeing the agency’s appellate litigation and defensive district court litigation. Previously, she served as a Deputy to the Solicitor General at the Office of the New York State Attorney General (NYAG), where she co-led NYAG’s appellate unit, supervised and argued significant cases (including antitrust and consumer protection matters), and counseled senior state officials, state agencies, and NYAG investigative teams. Before that, she was an appellate attorney with the USDOJ Civil Division, where she litigated civil appeals (including intellectual property matters), counseled federal agencies, and worked with the U.S. Solicitor General’s Office on Supreme Court matters. While at DOJ, she also completed a detail as a Counsel at the Office of the White House Counsel. Anisha clerked for Judge José A. Cabranes of the Second Circuit and Judge Louis H. Pollak of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She received her B.A. and J.D. from Yale, and she holds an M.Phil in Economic History and a Ph.D. in History from Cambridge University, where she studied as a Marshall Scholar.
