Elise Melon

Head of Policy, Strategy & Operations, Global Legal Affairs at UCB

Elise Melon joined UCB in 2017, a global biopharmaceutical company focusing on creating valuable solutions for people living with neurological and autoimmune conditions, as Head of IP Policy and Operations. As such, she managed a team of IP paralegals and several IP operations and policy specialists.

In 2022, she took on a broader role as Head of Strategy, Operations and Policy for UCB Legal Department, coordinating strategic planning, transversal operations and policy activities across the department.

Before joining UCB, Elise Melon worked for 5 years at the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), which represents the research-based and innovative pharmaceutical industry in the EU. As Director for Intellectual Property Policy, she coordinated the development of EFPIA’s IP and innovation policy within and outside the EU.

Today, she is Vice-Chair of EFPIA’s IP Expert Group and contributes to many other working groups in various national and international trade associations.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Political sciences and European Studies from Sciences Po Paris and two Masters of Law in Intellectual Property Law from Sciences Po Paris and in European Law and Economic Analysis from the College of Europe (Bruges).
