Ilja is Head Legal Europe for Novartis International, based in Basel. In this position, she is responsible for supporting the Regional headquarters and leading & supporting the lawyers in 52 countries. Prior to this role, she was responsible for Oncology Region Europe in Novartis. Ilja has over 25 years’ experience in the legal field, and is specialized in Life Sciences.

Prior to her current position, Ilja was working for AstraZeneca and Teva Pharmaceuticals in local and Regional leadership positions. Ilja started her career working as a lawyer in private practice for over 10 years, where she assisted many pharma companies with legal issues varying from intellectual property & pharmaceutical law, to litigation.
