ProPharma Group has acquired UK-based life-science advisory firm Digital Lab Consulting shortly after reorganizing as a research services organization.

The takeover - financial terms of which were not disclosed - adds capabilities in drug R&D services and consulting and provides a base of operations in Europe according to Raleigh, North Carolina-headquartered ProPharma.

CEO Michael Stomberg said: “Digital Lab Consulting is a critical addition to our expanding suite of R&D Technology services. DLC will instantly propel ProPharma’s R&D Technology offerings globally.”

The deal comes just a days after ProPharma unveiled its “Research Consulting Organization (RCO)” model, which it described as a research consulting and clinical service for biotech, pharma and device innovators.

According to ProPharma the RCO model, which was launched at the JP Morgan Health Conference, “breaks the mold of the traditional CRO by providing tailor-made consulting services to small and mid-size innovators, as well as larger players, globally.”

And, Stomberg says, DLC will “further define” the model and help clients minimize risk through the provision of regulatory strategy, clinical development, quality and compliance, pharmacovigilance, and medical information services.

DLC operates as a partner for the life sciences industry, providing business and technical consulting services in a bid to enable organizations to transform their business through better use of data and technology.

For ProPharma, the DLC deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions intended to build its services offering.

In March 2022, for example the firm bought M Squared Associates (M2), citing its clinical, regulatory and compliance experience for medical devices, combination products and diagnostics as a driver.

A few months later in August last year it took over Onesource Regulatory in a move intended to expand its presence in the consulting and compliance market. And in September, in bought Kateric, a specialist provider of medical writing knowhow.
