Peter Ortiz is a seasoned and highly accomplished executive in the restaurant and franchise industry, bringing over 20 years of expertise to his role as Chief Development Officer for Ascent Hospitality Management, the parent company of Perkins American Food Co. and Huddle House. Known for his strategic vision, leadership, and franchise development acumen, Ortiz has a proven track record of driving significant growth for some of the industry’s most recognizable brands.

In his current role, Ortiz is instrumental in shaping the growth trajectory for Perkins and Huddle House. He leverages his expertise to design and implement franchise strategies that prioritize sustainable expansion, build strong franchisee relationships, and deliver long-term success for the Ascent brands.

Before joining Ascent, Ortiz served as Vice President of Franchise Development for Potbelly Corporation, a rapidly expanding fast-casual concept with over 400 locations across the U.S. and an international footprint in the Middle East and U.K. At Potbelly, he led development efforts that positioned the brand for continued growth in competitive markets.

Previously, Ortiz was Chief Development Officer at Überitto, a brand of Mexican Restaurants, Inc., where he guided the company’s development strategy. As Vice President of Franchise Development and Recruitment at FOCUS Brands, Ortiz spearheaded a dynamic sales team that consistently exceeded expectations, selling over 200 franchise units annually for a portfolio that includes iconic brands such as Carvel®, Cinnabon®, Moe's Southwest Grill®, Auntie Anne's®, and McAlister's Deli®.

His extensive career also includes leadership roles as Vice President of Franchise Development for Noble Roman’s Pizza, Director of Franchise Development for Quiznos, and Director of Franchise Development for General Motors. These roles honed his ability to lead high-performance teams, execute large-scale development initiatives, and foster lasting partnerships.

Early in his career, Ortiz gained valuable experience in real estate as a Senior Sales Representative for RE/MAX and Prudential, building foundational skills that later informed his strategic approach to franchise development.

Peter Ortiz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics from Ohio State University.
