Agustin "Gus" Araya is a Co-Managing Partner at Cordillera Investment Partners, an investment management firm focused on investing in niche and non-correlated assets. Prior to founding Cordillera, Gus was a Partner at Makena Capital Management where he was responsible for Makena’s private and liquid Natural Resources investments in energy, power, mining, agriculture, timber, and commodities. Previously, he was also a member of Makena’s Private Equity team which was responsible for investments in venture capital, growth equity, and buyouts. Gus was also a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to the formation of Makena, Gus was an Associate Director of Private Assets at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation where he worked on private equity, real estate, and natural resources investments. Prior to the Hewlett Foundation, Gus was a Product Manager at Intuit. Prior to Intuit, Gus worked at Horsley Bridge Partners, a private equity fund-of-funds, as an Analyst. Gus began his career at D.A. Campbell Company, a boutique research firm specializing in Latin American equities, as an Analyst. Gus holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Gus is a CFA charter holder.
