Speaker

Profile

Deborah has served highly successful families for over 35 years as a private wealth manager, having founded, owned, and operated two boutique-style registered investment advisory firms.

A true pioneer in wealth management, Deborah introduced consulting fees for financial planning in 1984 and was among the first to offer fee-based asset management in 1996, both moves signaling a shift in the industry. Her vision led to the establishment of two separate, successful advisory firms. Both firms were ultimately acquired by public companies in 2007 and 2021, respectively.

Deborah's latest venture, as CEO & Founder of Stavis Wealth Transfer Solutions (Stavis Wealth), reflects her commitment to making a lasting difference in the lives of client families and community, by helping families develop and strengthen their estate and strategic philanthropic plans. The firm is a forward-looking RIA-to-RIA enterprise, exclusively focused on providing holistic estate planning and estate tax payment solutions to families with taxable estates.

An inherent instructor, Deborah has taught courses on retirement, investment, and advanced estate planning at the RICE University, Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies since 1984. She also taught CFP candidates in the RICE CFP(R) certification program. She has created original content and presented at numerous conferences for Shell Oil Company, SHELL Women Adding Value Everywhere (WAVE), The SHELL Alumni Association, and The Women’s Energy Network.

She is actively engaged in the Houston community as a founding member of the Barbara Bush Ladies for Literacy Guild and The Celebration of Reading Committee since its inception in 1994. She is additionally a strong supporter of Target Hunger.

Deborah was a Houston Business Journal honoree of the Women Who Mean Business Award. She has been featured in numerous publications including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg, Houston Chronicle, Oil and Gas Investor, and Investment News.
