Neela is co-CEO of Abacus Wealth Partners based in Santa Monica, CA. Starting as an unpaid intern in 2009, Neela has helped grow a values-aligned firm that supports gender equity through flexible policies, career path creation, and leadership transparency. As a consequence, over 50% of Abacus’ advisors are women, in an industry where 20% is the norm.

As a fierce nerd and Certified Financial Planner®, she can spreadsheet with the best of them. As a mom of three tiny humans, she can juggle and delegate, all while covered in ketchup.

Neela aims to make financial planning more impactful and more accessible (less jargon, more mom jokes). Meeting people where they are and working towards their own unique goals can make planning for one’s financial future a lot more effective and fun. She also believes taking care of people is everything -- the key to not just a successful business, but for making the world a better place.

Neela has been featured in Forbes, CNBC, Investment News, Barron’s, US News, Men’s Health, and the Los Angeles Times. She loves speaking to both the advisory community and consumers, as well as helping with pro bono planning opportunities.

Neela was named as Investment News’ “40 Under 40” for financial advisors in 2016, one of LA Business Journal’s “Women of Influence: Finance” in 2023. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, three children, two dogs, and a house much too small for all of them.
