Martha has held critical senior roles in banking, and provided regulatory oversight of some of the largest financial institutions.
Martha is an Independent Director on the board of Marqeta, Inc., a Nasdaq listed leader in modern card issuing and digital payments, where she chairs the Nomination & Governance Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. Martha works with FinTechs at various stages including on scaling, talent, and risk management, and has served on the Advisory Board of Quantexa and Eigen Technologies. She is also a Senior Advisor with BCG and mentors early stage FinTechs.
At the Federal Reserve, as SVP, Senior Supervisory Officer, Martha provided regulatory oversight of several global systemically important financial institutions (G-SIFIs) and participated in reviews and calibration across the Large Institution Supervision Coordinating Committee (LISCC) portfolio. She represented the US on the Basel Committee Supervision Implementation Group, and engaged in Federal Reserve initiatives on Governance, Risk Identification and Prioritization, FinTech, and Culture & Ethics in Banking.
As EVP, Head of Compliance Strategy & Operations for Wells Fargo, Martha established an enterprise compliance function, including hiring leaders for each key compliance program element, overseeing remediation plan execution, and establishing a Quality Assurance group to provide evaluation and metrics.
Martha also served as Chief Risk Officer for Banco Santander New York, and held key positions in capital markets risk management.
Martha holds an MBA from the Wharton School and an MA in International Studies from the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management & International Studies, and earned a BA in Economics from the University of Minnesota.
