Dr JiaYee Lee, Director of Strategy and Alliance at BioNTech Australia, is based at the BioNTech Innovation Centre in Melbourne where she plays are key role in developing Australia’s mRNA R&D ecosystem for immunotherapeutics and vaccines. JiaYee has a diverse career spanning technology innovation, venture creation, medical research, commercialisation and policy development. Prior to joining BioNTech, JiaYee was at the University of Melbourne as Enterprise Professor in MedTech and Centre Director for the Centre for Advanced Defence Research and Enterprise (CADRE). Jia Yee was previously the Director of the Health and Life Sciences Business Team at National ICT Australia (NICTA, now Data61 CSIRO) which was then Australia's largest Centre of Excellence in information, communication and technology research where she led research translation and commercialisation of technologies in "Diagnostic Genomics", "Biomedical Informatics" and "Assistive Technologies". JiaYee previously led virology research at the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory and MacFarlane Burnet Centre (now Burnet Institute). JiaYee graduated from the University of Melbourne with degrees in BSc (Hons), PhD and MBA (Melbourne Business School). JiaYee currently has an Adjunct Professor appointment from La Trobe University.
