Professor Rakesh N. Veedu is an internationally renowned expert in RNA therapeutic development including the design, screening and manufacturing chemistries. Professor Veedu completed his PhD from The University of Queensland (UQ) in early 2006 after completing MSc from Griffith University, Australia. Later, he joined the Nucleic Acid Center at the University of Southern Denmark (2006-2010) with Professor Jesper Wengel. In July 2010, he returned to Australia and established an independent research group at UQ. In 2015, he moved to Murdoch University as a Research Head of Precision Nucleic Acid Therapeutics group within the Personalised Medicine Centre through Perron Institute. He has published >115 research articles in internationally reputed journals, published a book, and also an inventor on multiple patents/patent applications. He is the Founder and Chairman of ‘SynGenis Pty Ltd’ - Australia’s commercial oligonucleotide manufacturing company, and the Co-Founder of ‘ProGenis Pharmaceuticals’ together with Professor Marvin H. Caruthers to develop novel ThioMorpholino Oligonucleotide (TMO)-based RNA therapeutics.
