Profile
Pam Schwann is President of the Saskatchewan Mining Association (SMA), the industry association representing companies engaged in the sustainable exploration, development and production of minerals within Saskatchewan. As the world’s leading producer of potash, and second-leading producer of uranium, the SMA also has a place at national tables to advocate for an attractive investment and export ecosystem that facilitates SMA companies as global leaders in producing critical minerals that fuel food and clean energy security to the word’s growing population. Early in Pam’s career, she was the Resident Geologist, Saskatchewan Energy and Mines in La Ronge, a position she held for eight years. For her last two years in La Ronge, Pam was recruited as the first Director, Northern Mines Monitoring Secretariat, Northern Affairs, working closely with leaders from northern indigenous communities, the uranium mining industry and governments. Pam is passionate about incorporating geoscience and community education and was recruited to initiate and instruct the Geology 102 courses for NORTEP/NORPAC College, an assignment she undertook for eight years while in La Ronge. Pam moved back to Regina in 1998 as the Director, Mines Branch, Energy and Resources until 2008 when she joined the SMA.
