Eric Lee is a highly accomplished professional with a strong background in maritime engineering and extensive experience in marine regulations and governance. He started his career in the maritime sector as a cadet in the Swire Shipping and rose to become a Chief Engineer before he joined the Hong Kong Marine Department in 2012. Over the past decade, Eric has held various managerial roles in the Department and has a wide range of expertise in port planning and development, regulatory control on domestic and ocean-going ships safety, security, environmental protection, ship management and crew welfare, as well as the formulation of green shipping roadmap and policies. Notably, in 2020, he led the revamping of the Flag State Quality Control (FSQC) system and significantly contributed to the high quality and excellent reputation of the Hong Kong flag in the international arena these years. Eric is currently the General Manager of Ship Registration and Quality in the Marine Department overseeing ship registration and handling matters in relation to commercial deal making, shipping market dynamics and contract law. He is dedicated to formulating a world-wide promotional strategy for the branding of the Hong Kong Shipping Registry (HKSR) and accelerating the transition to e-governance and the digitalization of services.
