James leads the Business Consultancy team at Lloyd’s Register, and has over fifteen years experience dedicated to maritime consultancy and research. Within LR, he leads a team of consultants working with senior management teams of shipowners, operators, charterers, ports and fuel suppliers, working to position their businesses for future success. His team works with clients to understand the impact of the energy transition on their businesses, from a commercial and financial perspective as well as a technical one.

Prior to LR, James was director of consultancy at Maritime Strategies International(MSI). His first job in shipping was as a market analyst at Clarkson Research. James holds an MSc in International Trade, Finance and Development from Barcelona School of Economics, a MA in Modern History from the University of Oxford, and an Diploma in Economics from the University of London.
