A well-recognized figure in the maritime industry, his ambitious yet humble nature has helped him succeed in the sector to achieve his personal and professional goals both offshore and onshore, while constantly seeking for new milestones to hit during his career.
Jamil Al Ali joined KOTC in the year 1985 through a Scholarship Program, attending South Tyneside College in the UK as a Marine Engineering Cadet. After completing his initial marine engineering training, he joined KOTC fleet vessels in 1988 and sailed until 2002 serving in all the ranks up to Chief Engineer. Mr. Jamil sailed onboard all the various types of vessels in KOTC Fleet, Crude, Petroleum Products and LPG from 1988 – 2002 and joined Kuwait Oil Tanker Company Head office in 2002 working his way up to head the Fleet Engineering group (FEG) for several years until 2014 and then heading KOTC Fleet New Building Projects Group (FNBPG), a critical and high profile role for any major shipping company, since he was in charge of the company’s new shipbuilding projects (building of new ships) and also looked after the civil construction projects as well as heading KOTC Marine Agency Branch, Minatank and other key roles.
After 36 years of service to KOTC, Jamil has made the audacious decision to embark on a brand-new chapter as the Middle East regional director of commercial and business development for Bureau Veritas M&O, since September 2022. His enthusiasm for this new phase of his career and pride in representing Bureau Veritas in the Middle East are contagious.
