Frank G. Geerdink, known as FG, a Dutch national, 64 years of age, has been successful as an entrepreneur from early age onwards. The red ribbon of his entrepreneurial life is to see problems in certain industries and envisioning the solution by combining technologies, systems and methods from other industries and trades and, by bringing these factors together, propose and produce the viable solution, solving their problem. By presenting the proposed solution, and investing in a test model or prototype to demonstrate its validity, it made us overcome the natural hesitation of industries to look at creative, different angle solutions, that are highly innovative and could not have produced by the problem owners themselves. After in house demonstrations at the initial customer and/or test projects, these technologies are then accepted and have become in several instances, a new industry standard. This approach has been successful in bridge inspection and maintenance, the aerial tower erection and maintenance, the telecoms industry, the oil & gas on & offshore sector, special lifting solutions and to downstream & upstream flare erection design, installation and maintenance and to drilling operations with gas treatment & flaring. The solutions presented have become companies, growing often briskly and have also resulted in worldwide operations and companies located in many countries around the globe. Over the course of time these companies have been sold to mainstream companies.
